As GRAHAM continues to grow and develop, we are seeking enthusiastic Graduate Quantity Surveyors to support our Building Team on sites across England (midlands or South-East/London). These roles are crucial in providing quantity surveying support and assisting in various key tasks to ensure project success. Starting at Graduate level the aim is for the person to progress through the levels of quantity surveying and to have a full and developing career at Graham. The graduate quantity surveyor shall

  • Assist in pre-construction work winning opportunities.
  • On occasion assist in measurement exercises to support work winning.
  • Assist in the procurement of the supply chain partners for live projects
  • Assist in preparation and issue of subcontract documents.
  • Assist in preparation and submission of project interim valuations.
  • Assist in preparation and submission of variation / compensation event claims.
  • Assist in preparation of interim cost reports including P/L report.
  • Assist in preparation of costs to complete forecast and final revenue forecast.
  • Assist in re-measure of BoQ items and subcontractors.
  • Assist in issue of subcontract payment notifications.
  • Accompany the QS in meeting with and Payment of subcontractor / subcontractor accounts as and when required.
  • Assist in preparation and submission of Final Account to Employers Representative. Accompany the QS in Liaising with Employers Representative with regards to anticipated Final Account figure.
  • Assist in reviewing recovery of losses against subcontractor’s work.
  • Accompany the QS to attend regular progress / commercial meetings with Client and Design Team.
  • Assist in the preparation and updating cash flow/expenditure / budget profiles.
  • Assist in the periodically review projects with Contracts Manager/ Director.
  • Learning how to carry out value engineering calculations in conjunction with the team.
  • Liaise closely with on site management on a day to day basis

Nb. It should be noted that we appreciate that Graduates have limited experience, and at Graham we pride ourselves in giving people the right amount of ownership where growth can be experienced, but is within the capabilities and experience level of the Graduate.

Technical competencies

Essential

  • Have, or in progress to have an RICS registered QS degree at minimum 2:1 level (Proof of graduation cert must be forwarded with CV, or forwarded when it is received if this is at a later date)
  • Have held a position of employment and can provide references
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the technology of construction
  • Demonstrate an understanding of surveying and a construction business
  • Competent in use of computer software including Microsoft Excel
