As a graduate associate in our Advisory team, you’ll be connecting with the issues our clients are facing, quantifying risk and advising how to mitigate them. you’ll work as part of a diverse team whilst being passionate about understanding the issues that are important to our clients. The constantly evolving landscape calls for an approach that puts what’s right first, so you will need to push ideas harder and ask the difficult questions to give clients the assurance they need to support their ambitions and growth.

    Our three-year graduate programme is designed to take you on a journey from graduate to professionally qualified. Here’s a glimpse of what you’ll experience during your first three years:

    • Hands on experience in the different aspects of Advisory and consulting, with a variety of clients
    • Responsibility from early in your career, taking ownership for interesting and challenging client work
    • The work you’ll do with our clients is of huge importance.
    • As part of our advisory process, you’ll ask questions and pay attention to responses to understand our client’s needs
    • You will be helping businesses, investors and individuals understand the financial side of businesses they are looking to acquire or invest in. It is also about helping investors articulate the financial value of a business that they are looking to dispose of. Broadly, this is called Due Diligence (or DD) (and which could relate to financial, tax, commercial, operational, IT or strategic matters). Which means our business advisers have lots of responsibility.

    Hybrid working model

    We operate a hybrid working model here at Grant Thornton and there will be times when you will work from home. As a trainee in our Innovation team, the expectation is that you will spend around 3 days either working from an office, client site or college to help with your learning, building relationships and connections with your peers.

    Study 

    As part of your training with us, you will be provided with study leave to support you with completing your professional qualification. Completing a professional qualification is a substantial commitment and it’s worth taking this into consideration before applying, as you will be required to study in your spare time outside of your working hours. You’ll also be provided with study leave in the run up to your exams. You’ll need to be focused, committed, and organise your time well to balance all the requirements of being a trainee.
