    The Mayor of London Media & Marketing Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic Internship is aimed at students from Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic communities who are interested in pursuing a career in PR or marketing.

    This is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the high-profile work of the press office, marketing and digital communications teams for the Mayor of London. You’ll gain in-depth experience of working in a fast-paced press office, delivering campaigns and engaging with Londoners via a range of digital platforms.

    You’ll develop essential skills, from writing press releases, dealing with journalists and managing media events to planning creative marketing campaigns and developing content for City Hall’s social media channels. The internship will provide a supportive environment to learn and hone your skills, including internal and external training opportunities.

    About You

    You’ll need excellent communication skills, the ability to manage your time effectively and work as part of a team. We’re looking for candidates with real enthusiasm who can demonstrate an interest in media, PR and marketing and are committed to developing a career in these industries.

    You must be an undergraduate or graduate of Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic origin (African, African-Caribbean, Asian or Chinese origin, or a combination of the above) and on track to receive, or has already received, a 2:2 in any degree or who has one year’s experience in media, PR, marketing or other related field.

    There are two internships will commence in September 2022 and will be for a duration of 11 months.

    The Greater London Authority’s Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic Media & Marketing internship scheme is a diversity initiative targeted at students and recent graduates of African, African-Caribbean, Asian or Chinese origin. These groups are under-represented regionally, and nationally, in PR which is why this scheme was created (in accordance with s.158 of the Equality Act 2010).

    This role will be based at City Hall, in the Royal Docks (Kamal Chunchie Way, London, E16 1ZE). GLA staff are hybrid working up to 3 days a week in our offices and remotely depending on their role. As part of this, you will need to split your time between home working and coming into the office.
