    Havas Life Medicom is an award-winning specialist healthcare communications agency. We are a close-knit, high performing team with a commitment to bring about health and wellbeing through our medical communication strategies. We are looking for a Graduate Medical Writer to join us!

    This permanent role is part of our graduate programme, a 12-month training programme designed to support your development. For the first two weeks, you’ll be onboarded alongside a cohort of 15+ other graduates, receiving a varied training schedule that balances industry knowledge with the key skillset needed to develop and grow in this industry, whilst becoming embedded within your teams. Once you’re fully onboarded, you’ll start in your role with the support of a buddy, regular learning mornings and a range of projects to help you reach your full potential.

    Develop the skills necessary to provide well-written copy that meets the brief, is appropriate for the target audience, and is delivered to budget in a timely manner.

    Key Responsibilities

    Writing and editing

    • Work with account handlers/senior writers to interpret client brief
    • Develop skills to produce high quality medical writing within agreed timelines
    • Efficiently review and critique your own work
    • Learn to ensure the accuracy of all information, data and referencing for the projects you produce
    • Learn to address internal and external comments on your work intelligently and question any that are inappropriate, inaccurate or unclear
    • Provide validated, marked-up references to support all work

    Scientific content and expertise

    • Develop understanding of new therapeutic areas
    • Become familiar with client products, therapy areas and portfolio
    • Develop basic understanding of industry codes of practice/legislation

    Internal relationships

    • Work with other members of the writing team to ensure that departmental objectives are met
    • Learn to plan your workload, and participate in team resourcing meetings

    Client service and external relationships

    • Begin to work collaboratively with account team members to ensure that all account objectives are met
    • When appropriate, begin to interact with clients and/or external experts
    • As appropriate, start to attend meetings in the UK or elsewhere, providing on-site support as required

    Business development

    • Start to identify opportunities to maximise existing client accounts
    • Start to assist with the development of proposals and pitches

    Financial

    • Begin to understand how projects are scoped, budgeted and reconciled
    • Discuss any apparent changes to specification for ongoing projects with the Technical
    • Lead at the earliest opportunity
    • Discuss time and budget guidelines with the project’s Technical Lead and keep them updated with any alterations from the schedule

    Company policies and requirements

    • Maintain regular working hours and behave in a professional manner at all times
    • Complete all expense claims in a timely manner and provide receipts to support expenditure
    • Look after all company equipment entrusted to you and report any loss or damage immediately
    • Attend all staff and team meetings, as requested
    • Complete all timesheets, trackers and resourcing planners as requested
    • Use house style in all external communications
    • Carry out any other duties as requested by members of the account team or Havas management
