You will regularly work at our head office in Basingstoke in addition to spending a lot of your time on-site at Premier League and Championship football stadiums throughout London and the South region as well as Stockley Park in London, with possible further opportunities for travel across the UK and Europe.
As a Football Systems Operator, you will be working on-site at football stadiums around the UK, playing a key part in the delivery of our services to Premier League and Championship matches. Your line manager will be our Technical Lead, which will give you exposure to all of the technologies that we provide in the world of Football. You will have the chance to be involved in the research and development of existing and new products.
When on-site at stadiums, the role will encompass the installation and operation of our technology for matches. You will need to be prepared to work long days at weekends and midweek evenings, as we work whenever Football happens.
Whilst we provide a number of services in top-flight football, you will initially focus on our Goal Line Technology service. You will gain exposure to various other services, such as VAR at Stockley Park, as you grow in the role and become a more experienced member of the team.
We will equip you with the technical training, support and full exposure to our systems to perform your day to day tasks but also encourage development and progression to help make an impact on what we do.
What does a Systems Operator do?
- Pre-match planning and setting up Hawk-Eye technology in the stadium (this can involve physically demanding work, such as rigging cameras and running cables)
- Driving the van to the stadium before match-day
- Conducting pre-match checks of the systems in accordance with standard procedures
- Liaising with stadium staff, match officials and host broadcasters on-site
- Monitoring the systems during the match
- Monitoring hardware and software performances, being able to troubleshoot and report encountered issues
- Playing an active role in software testing and development
- Taking full responsibility for our system on-site and representing our company on-site
- During the off-season, building and maintaining our hardware and equipment
- Assisting with installation and testing of new products and services
What are we looking for from you?
- A strong technical grounding
- Ideally studying for a degree in a science, technology, mathematics or engineering course
- Bright and enterprising with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proactive attitude and ability to work on your own initiative
- Time management skills and ability to work in a high pressure, live broadcast environment
- Ability to liaise with clients and customers in a professional and approachable manner
- Full valid driving licence required, willingness to drive our vans
- Willingness to travel domestically and to work overseas
- Flexible and adaptable to a schedule that is dedicated by the fixture list and can change at short notice
- Acceptance that the nature of our business means that work will be carried out over weekends/evenings/bank holidays
