A look into the role
Henderson Wholesale supplies over 450 SPAR, EUROSPAR, ViVO and ViVOXtra stores across Northern Ireland from its warehouse in Mallusk and provides support for independent retailers who trade under one of the Henderson Group brands.
The purpose of this operational management graduate scheme is to help the successful candidate in the busy world of logistics management by gaining first hand experience in leading a team. You will work rotations across several functions within the logistics department, giving you a range of different experiences to aid your personal and career development, and support you to fast track to management level with a clear pathway.
This is an ideal opportunity for an enthusiastic and proactive individual seeking to develop their project management skills and business acumen to the highest level, with one of N.I.’s largest and most varied employers. As Logistics Graduate you will:
- Train in shift management – learning how to make operational decisions and lead a large team of operatives
- Take the lead on a project to demonstrate the delivery of tangible results
- Take part in continuous improvement initiatives, making business efficiencies and service enhancement programs
- Gain experience in all elements of warehouse operations
- Support end to end process mapping and warehouse design roll out
- Gain knowledge of warehouse management system design scoping
Skills for Success
Minimum Criteria
- A minimum 2:1 degree qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering/business/I.T. or supply chain discipline
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office packages, in particular Excel and PowerPoint
- Full UK/EU Driving License
Attributes you’ll need
- Excellent communication and influencing skills
- Demonstrable ability to approach tasks methodically
- An aptitude for teaching, mentoring and knowledge sharing
Desirable
- Experience working as a team leader
- Warehouse Management Software experience
- Previous work with root cause analysis
- Experience of working within a logistics, operations management or supply chain environment
