A look into the role
Our Trading Team play a vital role in the ongoing success of our business. They source and secure high-quality products, maintain and manage stock and maintain a competitive edge by building key relationships.
During the placement year the successful applicant will support several functions within the trading team and will work closely with Suppliers, Admin, Pricing and Replenishment teams. You will help us to maintain stock availability for customers, manage stockholding and help us to achieve service level targets. You will also provide administrative support to the Trading team, providing data insight that informs decision making and supports the team in achieving business objectives and KPIs.

As Trading Assistant you will
- Review sales and trends, providing insight for management reporting
- Review Stock Management system, creating and reviewing orders
- Review shortages on products and orders, identifying and highlighting and providing solutions to any service level issues
- Liaise with Logistics and Trading teams to review any delivery intake requirements
- Forecast and understand the impact of weather, promotional schedules, seasonal and events on reorder volumes and use this insight to inform reorder levels
- Create and maintain reports on various systems
- Maintain and update contract pricing
- Maintaining accurate and up to date product and supplier information
- Prepare and check promotional sheets and pricing
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and improved ways of working
Skills for success
Joining us as Trading Assistant the minimum criteria you’ll need is:
- Working towards Third level business related qualification.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office solutions, particularly Excel.
- Excellent standard of numeracy.
- Data inputting, analysis and tracking to a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to analyse and interpret data.
The attributes you’ll need include:
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing demands and condition.
- Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
It is Desirable if you had:
- Knowledge of Foodservice supply chain.
- Demonstrable experience of working in project teams.

The successful applicant will be working 36.5 hours per week, 9pm – 5pm Monday to Thursday, and 9am- 4pm Friday.
