We currently have an exciting opportunity for a full-time, one-year placement for an IT Network Security Placement to join the Group IT Department. You will split your time between our Dronfield office and our new state-of-the-art Sheffield city centre office; agile working will be available. The opportunity will commence in the summer of 2023.
You will become an integral part of the Security and Infrastructure team, where you can strengthen and develop skills in a supported learning environment with hands-on experience. You will support and analyse company systems’ security and devices of around 450 colleagues.
Key Function of the Role
- Monitoring and resolving security alerts, escalating as needed to appropriate parties
- Identifying different levels of threats and working to classify whether true positive, false positive, or benign etc
- Vulnerability testing running scans of the network and remediating issues
- Patch Management of hardware, software, and firmware
- Running simulated phishing campaigns
- Assisting with support calls where able
- Training users to help raise their cyber security awareness, including working with other departments (Corporate Communications, Learning and Development) in the group to deliver the content to colleagues
- Creating content, tips, and guides to share cybersecurity knowledge
- Engage with our colleagues in the group to help diagnose and resolve issues as needed via Telephone, Email, Video Conference and in Person
- Keep up to date with current cyber threats and understand the threat landscape
- Willingness to learn.
Desirable Requirements
- Studying an IT-related degree (e.g. Security, Networking, Computer Science, Software Development)
- Awareness of:
- Active Directory
- Microsoft Office 365
- Azure
- Security Technologies and exploits
- Working knowledge of hardware, software, and computer networking
- Understanding and enthusiasm for latest IT trends
- Strong customer service ethos
- Good team working and independent working skills
- Outstanding written and spoken communication skills and clear telephone manner
- Good organisational skills and ability to multitask and prioritise
- Good problem-solving skills
