Assistant Project Manager Placement Newcastle 2024

Henry Riley is an international property and construction consultancy, who for the last 130 years have been industry leaders in cost management, project management, health & safety, and digital services. We are delighted to be accepting applications for our exciting 2024 Placement Project Manager role in our Newcastle office.

This is an 11-month, fully paid placement scheme. Targeted specifically at undergraduate students seeking employment for a year in industry as part of their current degree course. Candidates will need to be available to work the period between August 2024 to June 2025 to be eligible for this role.

Whilst working with us you will receive structured, hands-on experience in the consultancy Project Management role. All the time learning and developing your understanding of the key responsibilities of a Project Manager and gaining further insight into the construction industry. You will learn how an established construction consultancy operates and gain invaluable experience in working to proven and successful systems and procedures.

Duties & responsibilities

Within your role, we expect you to gain exposure to pre and post contract duties within a consultancy, client-facing Project Management role. Some duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Stakeholder management
  • Value engineering
  • Tender management
  • Procurement
  • Contract Administration
  • Attending meetings and recording minutes
  • Preparing financial and progress reports
  • Strategic decision making and problem solving
  • Programme management

About you

We’re looking for individuals who are:

  • Currently studying a Degree/Masters course and seeking a placement year in industry for the 2024 – 2025 school year.
  • Eager to and quick to learn.
  • Share our values of Passion, Integrity, Ambition and Excellence.
  • Have excellent literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Excellent communicators.
  • Enjoy working in a team environment.
  • Can follow process driven systems and procedures and work well under pressure.
  • Have a passion to pursue a career in a construction project management.
  • Organised, punctual and generally well prepared to work in a full-time office environment.
