    Is it for me?

Are you curious, eager to learn and try new things? Can you think on your feet and make quick, intelligent and commercial decisions? Can you combine strong analytical skills with an ability to build solid relationships? Do you have the courage to ask difficult questions and challenge the status quo? If you’re answering yes to these questions, our graduate programme is for you.

    Tell me more!

On our Insurance Management Graduate scheme, you’ll gain broad experience across one of our key business units (Hiscox UK) through 6 month rotations in Claims, Operations, Marketing and Finance and a 3 month rotation in Human Resources.

Your first rotation in Claims will have you jumping in at the deep end to see what insurance is and the reason that our customers have faith in us to make things right when things go wrong. Our Claims teams support our customers in their moment of need, understanding their requirements, dealing with their concerns, offering incredible customer experience and solutions whilst being sympathetic to the customer’s situation. Starting your graduate scheme in Claims will ensure that you always see things from the customer’s perspective.

Once you’ve understood what its is that we deliver for our customers, you’ll move into Operations to understand how. Operations is the backbone of our business – the team touches every part of the customer journey, from sales and distribution through to claims. Operations are the team that ensure that we can deliver on our promise to customers. In this rotation, you might join the Change team to enable the business to flex and adapt, alternatively you could be placed in the Continuous Improvement team to understand how we can constantly strive for efficiencies and ultimately deliver a better service to our customers.

Your rotation in Human Resources will give you an insight into how we attract and engage our talented employees. You’ll be involved in recruitment and candidate attraction, experiencing interviews from the other side of the desk. You’ll also work with the team to drive a high performance culture in the business.

In Marketing, you’ll communicate with our customers on the reasons why, if they have a need for insurance, that they buy from us. Marketing is a tough gig at the best of times, but at Hiscox, our team asks people to purchase a promise that we will look after them in their time of need. Working across Brand and Acquisition, you will gain a strong understanding of how we interact with our customers and potential customers

Your final rotation will be in Finance - bringing the knowledge you have built across each area and translating this into business planning. You’ll partner with the business to set the path going forward -  understanding the challenges and budgetary constraints that each team face and balancing this with our desire to grow.

On this graduate scheme, you’ll develop a unique understanding of how a complex insurance business operates, equipping you well for a range of career paths when you finish the scheme – most likely within Operations to start. From here, the career opportunities are endless, and you’ll be well placed to develop towards senior level leader in the business in the future.

    What qualifications do I need?

You’ll have achieved (or be expecting to achieve) at least a 2:1 honours degree in the UK (or international equivalent) in any degree subject.

    Any other requirements?

You’ll be able to speak and write fluently in business English, be numerate, and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.

The successful candidate must, by the start of the employment, have permission to work in the UK.

You’ll be able to join the scheme in September 2023.
