As an international specialist insurer we are far removed from the world of mass market insurance products. We insure the unique and the interesting with our work being underpinned by a culture that encourages us to challenge convention and always look for a better way of doing things. Our Cargo team is no exception, covering physical loss and damage to cargo at every stage of its journey, whether on land, sea or in the air. From soap to satellites, the team has developed into a solid and diverse book of business, underwriting a large variety of products on a truly global scale.
The Internship
During the internship you can expect to:
- Support with global risk analyses, researching current international affairs and economic climates with a view to analyse and present key information to the wider team.
- Collaborate with Underwriters across different levels within the team to work on monthly updates for accounts and manage the renewal and account lists.
- Gain tangible exposure to broker relations, shadowing senior team members in attending client meetings and visiting our box at Lloyds.
- Assist with project management and workflow optimisation, liaising with all team members to ensure new policies and requests are prioritised and distributed appropriately.
- Engage with a wide range of stakeholders across all levels within the business, liaising with Pricing, Exposure Management, Operations and Claims, communicating clearly and driving results.

Throughout your internship, you will receive lots of support, starting with an induction day to welcome you into the business and get you settled in. Through targeted training sessions you will develop an understanding of our business and the industry we operate in. In addition, your line manager and dedicated ‘buddy’ will provide regular support throughout, and you will also have check-ins with the Early Careers team to talk through your development and internship experience.
As a business, we have adopted hybrid working, where we have a combination of time in the office and at home. In this role you can expect to be in the office approximately 3 days per week, although you are welcome to attend the office more frequently if you would like.
