Role Overview
6-months, home-based contract to support the business and strategy requirements of Hitachi’s Environment Business Division.
As a Strategy & Ventures Junior Project manager, you will be representing Hitachi and regularly interacting with Startups, (Corporate) Venture Funds and internal Business Units.
You will also operationally manage Hitachi’s Corporate Venturing Office Europe which has the responsibility to work with the management of different business units to identify business priorities, identify startups that meet these requirements and create new partnership opportunities. All of these activities are performed within the ‘Environment’ theme.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assess ecosystems and competitive dynamics, partner needs, competitive players
- Coordinate market analyses and identify venture opportunity areas
- Coordinate the identification of venture opportunity areas through the analysis of Hitachi’s Business Unit strategies
- Scout databases, reports and attend conferences / meetings to identify interesting startups and manage the tracking of these startups in a structured manner
- Meet with startups and analyze the startup’s strengths and weaknesses, assets, finances and capabilities and business models.
- Lead financial analysis of startup and investment ROI
- Prepare PoC budgets for a potential collaboration with Business Units
- Manage the summary and presentation of selected startups to Business Units and identify importance of a potential collaboration / partnership
- Prepare and coordinate regular update reports and other communication materials for internal stakeholders
- Communicate with Venture Funds’ stakeholders and represent Hitachi in the investor scene
- Support ad-hoc projects such as presentations and other analyses.
Skills & Competencies Required
- Bachelor's Degree and / or Masters in an area such as Finance, Business Administration, Sustainability Strategy, Technology & Information Management or equivalent work experience
- Preferably 3-4 years of project management or venture scouting / corporate venturing experience
- Ability to impact operations and effect change without being confrontational
- Detail oriented, analytical and inquisitive
- Ability to work independently as well as guide interns in a (virtual) team
- Extremely organized with strong time-management skills
- Experience of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
