We are HMGCC, the engineering specialists at the heart of the UK’s national security. We work with the intelligence agencies, UK Government, academia, private sector partners and international allies to bring engineering ingenuity to the national security mission, creating tools and technologies that drive us ahead and help to protect the nation.

    Your role

As a Project Manager, you’ll bring your excellent people and problem-solving skills to a range of truly unique tasks. With timescales ranging from a few months to a few years, you’ll play a key role in ensuring projects are completed to time, cost and quality – and that our people have the support they need to find innovative solutions for our customers. Working with teams on-site, you’ll oversee the smooth-running of diverse projects, liaise with contacts around the country, and enable the successful delivery of tools and technology that protect national security.

You’ll oversee the entire project lifecycle through to completion, and lead the planning, scheduling, monitoring and reporting of activities. With your great communication skills, you’ll build and maintain stakeholder relations and ensure teams stay motivated and co-ordinated. You’ll take time to understand what people need and find effective solutions. And, you’ll oversee risk management and project assurance activities. You’ll identify where we can improve as you regularly review progress – and implement change that benefits our work in the long-term.

    What you’ll need

You’ll be someone with the drive and commitment to see projects through to the end – and to a high standard. We’re working to meet the needs of customers in the UK and around the world, so you’ll have excellent communication skills, and know how to tailor your approach depending on the unique requirements. With your experience successfully managing multiple projects, and the ability to demonstrate great team leadership, you’ll build productive working relationships with colleagues and customers, keep everyone in the loop – and enable the seamless delivery of innovative solutions.

Perhaps most importantly, you’ll solve problems with creativity and freethinking. You’ll ask questions and think outside the conventional norms as you seek to improve overall project delivery – and your own knowledge. Curious and keen to learn, you’ll be proactive about developing your own skills, taking on feedback, and improving our processes.

    What we offer

We invest in our people, not only with training but also support throughout your career. You’ll have access to extensive, dedicated career development opportunities ranging from half-day internal training to distant learning degrees. We’re affiliated with the Association for Project Management, meaning you’ll have the chance to gain further professional accreditation with us. It’s all to help you realise your potential. We also recognise the importance of a great work-life balance. Contracted hours are exactly that, so we’ll pay you for any overtime or give you time off in lieu if things take longer than expected. And, you’ll get 25 days’ annual leave (rising to 30 after 5 years), free parking, and access to our on-site nursery (subject to availability) and free, 24-hour gym.

Freedom, progress and openness are values that underpin our way of life. When you join us, you’ll discover a wide range of sports and social societies to help you meet new people – including affinity groups supporting neurodiverse, disabled, LGBTQ+ and ethnic minority colleagues. We’re proud to have an inclusive culture where everyone’s welcome, so you’ll only ever need to be yourself.
