    The People Team work with partners and senior Business Services leaders to support all aspects of our people’s careers, from recruitment to retirement to help the firm deliver on its vision.

    Graduate Recruitment sits within the Legal Resourcing function and works closely with the Legal and Business Services Recruitment and Trainee Development teams.  The team is responsible for the firm's strategic aim of attracting and recruiting the best people across all practices and departments.

    Role Overview

    Each year the firm seeks to recruit up to 50 graduates to join the firm's trainee solicitor recruitment programme in London and Birmingham.  The firm has a successful track-record of developing its trainee solicitors with over 50% of the London partners having joined the firm via this route. The recruitment market for the most talented graduates is highly competitive and the firm needs to work hard to define and differentiate itself from major competitors.  Anyone joining the team needs to understand the strategic objectives of the firm and team and be prepared to represent the firm to the highest standards.

    Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

    Graduate Recruitment

    • Co-ordinate and facilitate our graduate recruitment programmes including HL Launch Pad & Lift Off, Vacation Schemes, First Year Schemes and Campus Ambassadors.
    • Support the recruitment campaign and process for the trainees in our Birmingham office.
    • Contribute to the full life cycle of graduate recruitment, including the screening process and planning and running assessment days.
    • Conduct situational and campus ambassador interviews.
    • Assisting the delivery of post assessment wash-up meetings.
    • Support the team to ensure that the pipeline for our programmes meets the firms D&I objectives.
    • Liaise and support candidates as they progress through the application and assessment process.
    • Attend and facilitate Graduate Recruitment events.

    Marketing and Attraction

    • Action the firm’s strategy for target universities (including being the key contact for selected Careers Services and faculty), milkround events, and campus activities.
    • Source appropriate representatives from graduate recruitment, campus ambassadors, trainees, future joiners, associates, senior associates and partners for events.
    • Maintain and co-ordinate the production of our marketing materials including website, brochure, adverts and social media presence.
    • Co-ordinate and develop our graduate recruitment diversity events and programmes.
    • Ensure a current knowledge of the legal market and our competitors.

    Operational Support

    • The GR Advisor and GR Administrators should work collaboratively to meet the team’s goals and support each other.
    • Participate in budget planning to ensure all costs are kept within the budgeted spend.
    • Assist with award submissions.
    • Ensure the accurate maintenance of graduate recruitment data.
    • Produce graduate recruitment statistics and analysis, including diversity statistics.
    • Participate with ad hoc projects and initiatives to support graduate recruitment and marketing and attraction as required by the Senior Graduate Recruitment Manager.

    Specific duties or responsibilities may be reviewed from time to time to reflect changes in personnel and management structure, staff location or services.

    Person Specification

    Qualifications & Training

    • Degree educated with experience gained in Graduate Recruitment.
    • Experience in the legal or professional services sector.
