    Role profile

    Howden CAP (Capital, Advisory & Placement) are now seeking personable and ambitious graduates and/or school leavers to assist in growing our business as a Trainee Broker.

    The Trainee Broker role requires an entrepreneurial approach, a willingness to use initiative, hunger for knowledge and the ability to work well as part of a team.

    You will learn to negotiate and broke insurance cover on behalf of our clients, to become come the first point of contact for a portfolio of insured business, handle clients enquiries, requests and renewals.

    With access to, and support from Howden CAP’s wider team, the successful individuals will:

    • Learn about the insurance market in which Howden CAP operates.
    • Learn about different risks facing businesses across a wide variety of sectors.
    • Understand and learn the unique Howden CAP approach to broking, which has underpinned our global growth.
    • Initially, provide a support function for our specialist teams on their day-to-day insurance portfolio requirements.
    • Eventually, once initial training it complete, engage with clients and run transaction processes from an insurance perspective.
    • Join business development meetings and pitches for prospective clients, and in time develop your own client base.

    We currently have a number of opportunities across the following teams:

    • Credit & Political Risks
    • International Trade Credit
    • Surety

    Required skills

    • A determination and willingness to learn about insurance concepts and the market
    • Written and oral business fluency in English
    • Ability to work well as part of an open and collaborative team
    • Analytical, with an attention to detail
    • Articulate, personable and willing to, in time, meet clients and their advisors to explain our offering
    • Insurance knowledge is not required and full training will be provided

This approach is underpinned by our multidisciplinary teams with backgrounds in banking, law and ‘Big-Four’ consultancy as well as a breadth of insurance specialisms.
    • Howden CAP has combined Howden’s market leading M&A and Global Credit Solutions (GCS) practices and includes specialists in Private Equity, Surety, ESG/Climate Risk, Insolvency, Tax, Credit, Litigation Funding, Structured Finance and Banking.
