    Hull University Students’ Union is a Charity, with a large trading subsidiary; our primary purposes are:

    • Advancement of education, promoting the interests and welfare of students during study and representing, supporting and advising students.
    • Being the recognised representative channel between students and the University of Hull and other representative bodies.
    • Providing social, cultural sporting, recreational activities, and forums for discussions and debate for the personal development of its students.

    Our Trading Subsidiary provides a range of services for students including, a Supermarket, a pub, a nightclub, coffee and food outlets.

    Responsibilities

    Campaigns

    Under the general direction of the Marketing and Communications Manager the main duties of the post are as follows:

    • Working across the organisation to create and deliver creative engaging campaigns for a wide range of topics, such as Elections, Varisty, Black History Month, LGBQT+ History Month, Mental health awareness etc.
    • Campaign planning
    • Creating clear and concise design briefs
    • Working collaboratively with colleagues about campaign requirements and objectives
    • Connect with teams across the organisation to develop innovative ideas to promote initiatives, products, events or services.
    • Responsible for project direction, organising client feedback and ensuring a successful outcome.
    • Supporting the marketing team in daily administrative tasks
    • Pro-actively work with students and student groups to find positive stories and create content for social media and press
    • Pro-actively monitoring brand conversations within student and community audiences
    • Assisting with market research such as online focus groups, survey response analysis and more.
    • Develop content to support campaigns including copy writing (for print & digital), press releases, email sends and social media posts (including photography and video)

    Social Media

    • Create engaging Social Media Content for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, You Tube and Tik Tok
    • Social media scheduling for ongoing campaigns, creating engaging content while maintaining HUSU's tone of voice and brand guidelines
    • Create social media campaigns and work with the team to manage overarching social media schedule

    Newsletter

    • Creating and collecting content for weekly Newsletter for students and staff
    • Accurate copywriting

    Reporting and Information Management

    • Monitor the effectiveness of campaigns, writing accurate reports and project status notifications (including analytics reports)
    • Complete projects to a specific schedule and within an agreed budget
    • Source content for social channels and news stories from students, elected representatives and by attending cross campus activities/events
    • Collecting performance data from campaigns and creating reports for the Marketing Manager

    PR

    • Working closely with the University on PR requests and support the President Team with media enquiries
    • Coordinate media enquiries
    • Maintain Media contact list

    General Duties and Responsibilities

    • Ensure confidentiality at all times in the handling and dissemination of information and data, and embedding and implementing GDPR across the workload
    • Carry out all duties in line with HUSU's policies and in line with the organisation's values and strategic aims
    • Ensure the Health and Safety policy and procedures are followed at all times.
    • Carry out any other duties as may be required from time to time under the overall scope of the role

    Person Specification

    Essential

    • Degree, A Level, GCSE level/equivalent
    • 6 months to 1 year experience in a similar role
    • Social Media Scheduling tools
    • Proven experience working with in a marketing environment
    • Creation and delivery of engaging campaigns
    • Copy writing
    • Experience of briefing requirements to designers
    • A comprehensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
    • Knowledge of processes involved in carrying out marketing campaigns
    • Have administration experience and evidence of high standard of written and verbal communication skills including spelling and grammar
    • Strong attention to detail, well organised and able to deliver to strict deadlines
    • Creativity
    • Knowledge about Marketing and the importance that it plays within an organisation
    • Ability to deal effectively with a diverse range of people and activities
    • Evidence of strong interpersonal skills
    • Self-motivated
    • Resilience, when faced with set backs, can overcome obstacles

    Desirable

    • ​CIM qualification or training
    • Knowledge of working within the charitable sector
    • Knowledge of how to manage client expectations
    • Experience of managing multiple clients
    • Experience in ASAN, Sprout, SUMS
    • Have experience of Illustrator, Photoshop and Indesign
    • Experience of proof-reading documents for accuracy
    • Experience of writing copy for a range of audiences
    • Knowledge of education sector and student expectations
