    This role sits in the Systems Service Delivery Team of Hymans’ Third Party Administration (TPA) business unit.

    TPA administer more than 70 pension schemes on behalf of our clients and the Systems Service Delivery Team support their administration by providing a calculation-automation service. The Team’s scope covers changes to existing scheme rules and the onboarding of new schemes.

    The Automation Analyst role primarily involves the translation of technical benefit rules into a specification that identifies the various benefit scenarios for each scheme and calculating the expected results for each cohort of members. The specification created would be encoded by developers and used as an automated test pack so the Automation Analyst will work as part of a multi-disciplinary digital team using agile techniques to manage their work and will regularly liaise with client-facing teams, actuaries and other digital stakeholders.

    Main responsibilities

    • Analyse scheme data and translate scheme rules into clear and concise benefit specifications for calculations.
    • Define scheme calculations and associated process, ensuring integrity of calculations.
    • Identify suitable test cases for all benefit scenarios for use in Quality Assurance.
    • Assist with resolution of any issues in the outputs of automated calculations.
    • Collaborate with Administration Teams and PMO Team to analyse client requirements and stay focussed on delivery of client projects.
    • Liaise with technical specialists on defining text for standard letters so that calculations are explained in plain English.
    • Resolve queries quickly and efficiently.
    • Focus on Continuous Improvement as a way of maintaining a high-quality service, identifying areas of improvement as they occur.
    • Manage your workload to support delivery of priorities across multiple schemes.
    • Provide mentoring and guidance to other members of the team, sharing information and ideas for best practice.

    You will be able to demonstrate

    • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail and communication skills.
    • Up to date understanding of Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution pension schemes and legislative framework for UK pension schemes.
    • A proactive approach to providing solutions and results to support delivery of client work.
    • Making pragmatic decisions during problem solving.
    • Ability to multi-task and prioritise workload to meet demand, taking ownership of work that you lead.
    • Advanced skills in Excel and experience of a pensions administration system e.g. UPM.
