We currently have an exciting temporary internship opportunity within our Product Experience Department, based at our facilities in Haverhill, Suffolk.

The Product Experience department deals with sensory analysis and consumer research in order to support the R&D department and marketing/sales choices. It plays a key role in product development processes, to understand how to fulfil consumer needs and expectations (thanks to tools like sensory profiling, preference evaluation, product positioning, etc.).

What you'll do

The successful candidate will support customer projects in Europe with sensory and consumer studies and optimization of sensory data acquisition, processing, and analysis.

With guidance from PX researchers, the intern will:

  • Support customer projects in Europe with sensory and consumer tests
  • Design best approach to answer brief
  • Collect relevant sensory data (descriptive and/or discriminative), meaning organizing the samples, leading the sensory panels, checking the panel/panellist performances, analyzing the data and writing the report
  • Collect relevant consumer quantitative data though online surveys, meaning defining consumer target, creating the questionnaire, loading the questionnaire on the defined system online, analyze the data and write the report
  • Report the key findings to the project team
  • Duration of internship: 5-6 months, commencing beginning February/March 2022.

What you'll need

Required Skills

  • Scientific: good knowledge in SENSORY ANALYSIS with STATISTICAL SKILLS (discriminative, descriptive, parametric & non-parametric analysis) and in quantitative consumer research.
  • Computer science: being at ease with digital environment, experience with Microsoft Excel, FIZZ and XLSTAT.
  • Language: mandatory scientific and professional English
  • Personal: we are looking for a well organised, creative and solution-oriented student with an analytical mindset and good communication skills.
