    Job Description

InstaDeep is seeking a Research Intern to join our Research Team in London working on deep learning models for protein structure prediction.  Machine learning has revolutionised a host of bioinformatic applications and InstaDeep is at the forefront with initiatives across drug discovery, vaccine development and protein engineering.  Predicting the structure of proteins is key to many of these tasks and the Research Team supports this through the study and development of state-of-the-art deep learning models.

As a Research Intern, you will work closely with our Research Scientists and Research Engineers to assist with the design, training, study and application of these models.  Our experience is that, with the right support, a collaborative attitude and a passion for research, interns can make significant contributions during their time with us, and as such are treated as full-time employees from day one.  Our approach encourages collaboration across all groups within the company, leading to ambitious breakthroughs at the forefront of AI research.

    Role Responsibilities

    • Set up and maintain Deep Learning pipelines to both fine-tune and train models from scratch.
    • Perform rigorous analysis to better understand the performance of these models and  compare them to other leading approaches.
    • Explore the application of structure prediction techniques to other protein modelling tasks (protein interactions, protein design etc).
    • Report and present experimental results and research findings, both internally and externally, verbally and in writing.
    • Upon request, collaborate with other groups’ activities, including but not limited to presenting the company to new prospective clients, participating in calls and meetings, and representing Instadeep in conferences/events.

    Requirements

    • Currently enrolled in a PhD programme (or recent graduate) in Computer Science, Bioinformatics or a related field.
    • Theoretical and practical knowledge in machine learning and deep learning.
    • Relevant experience in bioinformatics and protein design or structure prediction is a plus.
    • Experience in developing and debugging in Python.
    • Experience using deep learning frameworks such as Tensorflow, Pytorch, and/or Jax.
