What is the team like?
An exciting opportunity to join the London charities team which oversees over £1.8bn of funds under management. The team specifically look after charity and not for profit clients across the UK,and the opportunity exists to join the team as it enters an exciting growth phase.
You would be joining a growing team of seven investment managers who are all dedicated to running charity money with many years of experience in the sector. The team have a passion for sustainable investment and focus on working with charities to help them invest responsibly in a way that is aligned with their investment goals.
What are the key responsibilities?
We are looking for a dynamic team player who is client focused and has a passion for responsible investment. The role would be supporting three investment managers with looking after their clients whilst also plugging in to the charities portfolio management team and the charity investment process.
Those considering the role must be aware that this is an incredibly fast paced team with a deep desire to make a significant positive difference to our clients, wider stakeholders and external communities. The team play a much wider role within the charities business and any new addition will have the desire to work collaboratively and cross regionally, to support the growth of the wider charities business.
Importantly, we are looking for someone who will roll up their sleeves to get involved in absolutely all aspects of a client support role. No job is too big or small for anyone within the team.
This is an entry level investment management role with the potential to progress a career in investment management over the next 3 to 5 years. The successful candidate will be expected to achieve the appropriate qualifications to progress through the Investment Management career path with a dedicated focus on managing charity clients. To support the provision of high quality, professional investment management services to charities, the role involves the following:
- General
- Assist in the preparation and dispatch of reports, presentations and valuations.
- Develop knowledge of, and comply with, all regulatory and organisational requirements / procedures.
- Liaise with clients and intermediaries as required including transaction reporting correspondence.
- Prepare responses to incoming correspondence and emails as requested.
- Maintain accurate and up to date ‘Know Your Client' information.
- Keep abreast of operational and administrative procedures.
- Produce information for client and prospect meetings
- Attend and support client meetings as necessary, including taking minutes.
- Familiarity with all aspects of client administration, start to finish.
- Investment Management Duties
- Implement investment strategies as directed by a competent Investment Manager.
- Contribute to the investment message and investment process of the team.
- Assist in the management of investment portfolios of the team and monitor performance.
- Prepare charity tender documents, and prospect presentations, as required.
- Monitor the team's suitability failures providing regular updates.
- Look for new business opportunities.
- Read financial press regularly and keep abreast of global investment themes.
- Ensure skills and knowledge base is abreast of current developments.
- Complete appropriate professional examinations (as detailed above).
- Attend on-going professional training courses and events.
- Carry out due diligence reports on unresearched holdings
- Submit team performance data to appropriate third parties
- Participate in team investment meetings and take minutes
What skills and knowledge are we seeking?
- A strong interest in investment markets.

- Highly IT literate with an ability to learn new systems.
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with client relationship managers and clients.
- Excellent telephone manner.
- Proactive individual who is naturally efficient, organised, can manage time well and competent at working to deadlines.
- Prepared to assist the team leader and fellow team members in all aspects of their day to day duties.
- Reliable and enthusiastic individual with a strong sense of integrity.
- A team player who is prepared to put in additional hours, if necessary, to meet deadlines.
Any other attributes that would be helpful, but not essential for the role?
- Working knowledge of Pulse is desirable but not essential.
