As a Placement student in our Health and Safety team you will The HSQ&E support the implementation and management of ISG's health and safety systems and provide general support throughout the division.
The Industrial Placement Programme
Our 12 month Industrial Placements gives you the opportunity to build a full understanding of all aspects of our business and to kick-start your career in construction. You'll be empowered to deliver extraordinary customer service and state-of-the-art, innovative projects.
- You can expect to work closely with experts from our Health and Safety team, learning all about the core areas of our business.
- You will attend bespoke ISG workshops on soft skills and technical training to get a better understanding of the industry and how to handle various situations that may arise.
- It's the perfect opportunity to put everything you've learnt in your degree so far into practice on a live project.
- You will also complete a development record to showcase your development throughout the programme which will be reviewed by your supervisor who will offer support throughout the scheme.
Key responsibilities
No day in construction is the same but you can expect to:
- Assist in the preparation, review and approval of Site Health and Safety Plans.
- Assist in the identification of hazards and the preparation of risk assessments and safety method statements.
- Assist in the preparation of method statements for high risk operations.
- Assist CMs and TSMs in on-site safety training of operatives including induction and tool box talks.
- Assist in the planning and carrying out of audits and inspections of sites and departments and assist in collating reports
- Liaise with Health and Safety Executive/AVI
- Attend site and other safety meetings as requested.
- Assist with the development and implementation of improvements to our systems and processes.
- Assist with the updating of the company management system.
Candidate profile
You will be studying towards a degree in a relevant subject and on target for a 2:2 result and have a passion for the Construction Industry.
There will be scope to learn and grow throughout the duration of the one-year programme, recognising that this time is used to make you an expert in your field to flourish and progress your career further resulting in a potential offer to join ISG as part of the Graduate scheme.
