Our Product Management team (Smart Water & Gas metering products) is aiming to expand our global market leadership position. From market analysis, Voice of Customer and product segmentation, they want to build platform solutions that are designed to serve thousands of utility companies, span 100+ countries and manage 500m+ devices.
Our Product Marketing & Device Architecture team will provide the capability and increased bandwidth to deliver on our mission.
Purpose of Placement
- Undertake research into available and emerging technologies related to management of Gas & Water devices.
- Explore how the IoT could add value to existing available data used by our customers.
- Create a proof of concept or demonstration environment that verify the viability of potential solutions.
- Perform testing to benchmark the performance of existing end-to-end use cases related to resource management of water & gas solutions
- Support the product management team build cost vs benefit models.
- Perform benchmarking against competition solutions.
- Be part of a team to develop architectural solutions that build foundational platforms of the future.
- Manage & improve the automation of test devices to demonstrate system reliability & remote configuration capability.
- Support deployments of international trials of advanced AMI solutions with key customers.
- To document the generated information and create a knowledge base which can be shared across the company.
Note: This role will involve collaboration across other Itron international sites, and potential cross functional work with other Interns like yourself in supporting their objectives.

- Contribute to the architecture team, build capability to evaluate technologies and build platform-based architectures that support our business
- Advance the practical knowledge of industry changes that will benefit or impact our customers & share within the company

About You
Education/Qualifications
- Degree or studying toward a degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline, or environmental sciences.
Knowledge and Understanding
- Knowledge of existing communication technologies & topologies used in IoT deployments.
- An interest in resource Management on how Water & Gas resources are used globally.
- A keen interest in Industry issues & technologies and how they have the potential to change our future.
- Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft office products, collaboration tools & internet search tools
Skill and Ability
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Confident, intermediate level of English language
- Comfortable asking questions to discover knowledge.
- Content to work both independently, safely and with team spirit.
- Systematic and logical approach to diagnostics/testing and good analytical skills
- A naturally curious nature
- Ability to understand different international perspectives & value cultures.
