Level 6 Supply Chain and Logistics Degree Apprenticeship

As part of your apprenticeship, you’ll get the benefit of hands-on career-building experience at the forefront of the automotive industry, and you will achieve a BSC (Hons) degree developed in conjunction with Aston University.
Supply Chain and Logistics - Gaydon, Whitley, Solihull

The supply chain apprenticeship programme exists to develop a new generation of talent, with the ability to embrace the complex challenges of creating the sustainable, resilient and efficient global supply chains of the future.
On the Industrial Operations Supply Chain and Logistics Apprentice Programme you could work in one of the following departments:
Operations & Logistics
From experience in supplier development to finished vehicle delivery, you will build your ability to get the best performance from our suppliers and logistics providers and deliver efficiently optimised, well-planned operations. You will be planning JLR’s multi-model inbound and finished vehicle supply chains and will use key performance indicators to manage the flow of components from global suppliers to our assembly plants and vehicles to dealers.
Industrial Operations Programmes
Working on the new vehicle and propulsion programmes that are the future of the business, you will build expertise in managing complex projects, defining objectives, timing and budgets, and taking concepts from the desktop to industrialisation. You will work years in advance of new vehicle introductions, ensuring that robust plans and efficient supply chain solutions are developed and implemented. After realising your project, you will focus on operational readiness as well as controlling capital budgets and expenses to maximise financial returns.
Supply Chain Planning
Playing a critical role in maximising new vehicle sales revenue, you will help the team with everything from capacity planning to vehicle scheduling, owning and orchestrating our sales and operations execution and sales and operations planning processes. You will work with both our Commercial and Manufacturing teams to translate global vehicle demand into vehicle and propulsion system production schedules, balancing manufacturing plant output with demand and optimising component and finished vehicle inventory.
Supply Chain Strategy
The Supply Chain Strategy team is responsible for defining the long-term strategic direction of the supply chain through monitoring industry, economic and customer trends. Developing plans and enabling targeted change across all areas of the supply chain, you will ensure that everything you do is aligned with our business vision, while maintaining a focus on sustainability, risk management and business resilience.
Electric Manufacturing Propulsion Centre (EPMC) - Wolverhampton with travel to Hams Hall
The EPMC, is a state of art, purpose-built manufacturing facility producing a range of propulsion systems that form the heart of all our vehicle. It produces both traditional internal combustion engines and new products/technology such as EDU (Electric Drive Units) & Battery packs, which will support the transition to our electrified future. The EPMC works closely with the Battery Assembly Centre (BAC) who are pioneering their way through battery assembly technology and leading the way on electrification.
You will predominantly get involved in Material Planning, Supply Chain and Logistics roles. Wherever you focus, you will become an integral part of our team as you support the production of innovative solutions to support our electrified future. You will be provided with a rich, varied range of activities which will include complex problem solving, providing technical expertise and continuous improvement activities. You will work in a fast-paced environment with a blend of office based and shop floor activities.
Your Education Provider
As part of your apprenticeship, you will study for a BSc in Supply Chain Management (Professional Practice) with Aston University.
Over the first three years of your apprenticeship, you will study a range of modules designed to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to thrive. You’ll contribute to the business in your assigned role, as well as undertake additional study in your own time, to achieve your academic award. A network of apprentice tutors and line managers will regularly review your progress and offer advice to support you in performing at your best.
Your studies will be delivered through a combination of block teaching weeks, online study and independent learning. The learning you acquire with Aston University you will apply directly to your role at JLR.
In the final year, you will undertake a work-based project that also forms part of your End Point Assessment (EPA). On successful completion of your EPA, you will achieve your Level 6 Apprenticeship, ready for an amazing career with JLR.
What’s required?
You will need to have achieved GCSE Maths and English Language at level 5 or higher plus three additional GCSEs at level 5 (C) or higher, including one science, engineering, technology or maths (STEM) subject.
In addition, you will need to have achieved or be on track to achieve three A-levels at grade C or higher, one of which must be in a STEM subject with a high numerical content.
