About Javelin Group, part of Accenture Retail Strategy & Consulting

The Javelin Group is a leading digital retail strategy consultancy with unparalleled expertise working with major consumer brands such as Nike, Burberry, and Primark. In June 2015 The Javelin Group was acquired by Accenture to lead its capabilities in digital retail transformation, and today forms the majority of the Accenture Retail Strategy & Consulting practice. The practice has grown significantly over the last five years and today our team of ~60 consultants serves retail and brand leaders across Europe, North America, The Middle East, China and Australia. We support our retail and consumer clients with Growth projects as well as helping to improve their Operations. We help clients improve their competitiveness by anticipating and responding to the rapid changes in customer shopping habits and retail technologies.

We retain our Javelin Group brand with our clients, and our culture as a specialist business unit within the firm. We configure project teams in many ways depending on clients’ needs, working on projects with our Retail Strategy & Consulting colleagues only, or with wider Accenture teams. We have a six-tiered career progression structure: analyst, consultant, senior consultant, manager, senior manager, managing director. Recruits to Javelin Group may start at any level, depending on previous experience. Progression from there depends entirely on personal performance.

    Our Graduate Programme

We are looking for motivated, ambitious graduates to join our Retail Strategy & Consulting team as Analysts focused on Digital Growth. You will be based London office and serve clients around the world.

Over the course of your first 12-18 months you will develop your consulting skills through on-the-job learning as well as formal training. You will be given responsibility from day one, participate in all aspects of a project, have unrivalled client contact, and help to make a visible difference to some of the world’s largest and most dynamic companies. You will gain experience of our different types of work and gather the suite of skills required of a first-class strategy consultant.

Our retail and digital strategy projects typically last 6-12 weeks and can involve a broad variety of different topics. For example, projects may involve setting out a retailer’s omnichannel vision, defining new retail propositions, cost optimisation, building business cases for strategic initiatives, evaluating the financial plan supporting a potential acquisition, or developing a roadmap for international expansion. Our focus is to help our clients be as successful as they can be.

From 2021, the graduate scheme will also incorporate a rotation through retail Operations,  giving successful candidates experience in supply chain, fulfillment and distribution, store operations and customer service, as well as the potential to be involved in implementations.

    What are we looking for?

We accept applications from undergraduates/graduates of all disciplines and are looking for academic excellence (expecting/achieved a 2.1 or above, with excellent A-levels), a desire to work in strategy consulting, and an enthusiasm for the retail sector.
