About the role
The Digital resources directorate delivers services that support the procurement, licensing, management, discovery and use of content and software for UK further education, higher education and research. Our work areas are divided into three product groups: licensing (content and software), open research, and content and discovery.
The QA analyst will report to the Head of product and service in the business operations team. You will work closely with product managers and owners to understand the product requirements.
You will translate those requirements into clear, coherent acceptance criteria for all new functionality and product enhancements. Working as part of a cross functional development team, the you will then define, create and execute manual test scripts with a strong focus on user requirements and business processes.
The QA analyst will act as the champion for quality and exceptional user experience within the product development team.
Responsibilities
- Attending product team and stakeholder meetings and workshops to proactively collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritise test cases based on risk analysis and criticality of functionality
- Familiarise yourself with a wide range of products across the digital resources directorate. Embed yourself within each product development team as required, and understand the product, the people involved in its development and delivery, and the goals and objectives of the team
- Use your expertise to advocate for the user/customer’s voice throughout the full testing process and feed this advocacy into the test cases and user stories
- Lead the development and maintenance of test documentation, including test plans, test cases, test scripts, and test reports. Store test scripts and documentation within the DR quality management system
Key skills and experience
- Knowledge of the software development lifecycle
- Knowledge of the Product Lifecycle Management process
- Experience in a quality assurance role
- Good working knowledge of WCAG 2.1 accessibility requirements
