BASEC (a part of Kiwa UK) is looking for a Laboratory Administrator. The purpose of the role is to provide day-to-day administrative support to the BASEC laboratory. This role is office based, in Milton Keynes. BASEC part of the Kiwa family since April 2023, is an internationally recognised independent testing and certification body, dedicated to ensuring the safety and conformity of electric cables. Its cable schemes include initial and routine testing of cables, and auditing of designers, manufacturers and distributors of cables.
About the role
- Be a BASEC Group & Kiwa Ambassador
- Ensure a safe working environment for our employees for both physical and mental health
- Liaising with the Technician, Certification & Commercial Teams with regards to reports/clients/queries/sample selections
- Liaising with the Logistics Technician to ensure samples are received correctly and ready to test
- Raising jobs packs - printing work instructions, labels, equipment usage sheets, etc.
- Loading jobs into the BASEC Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and SalesForce
- Updating sample statuses i.e. In Queue, On Test, Failed, Disposed, etc. in relevant documentation.
- Checking completed test reports and compiling reports as required
- Creating failure records in SalesForce
- Archiving laboratory paperwork and electronic documents as required
- Liaising with import agents for clearing goods
- Purchasing as required and raising purchase orders
- Co-ordinating sub-contracted testing
- Responsible for lab maintenance, ordering supplies, lab contracts
- Organising training

- Proven, demonstrable experience in an administrative environment
- Strong organisation and project management expertise
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent day to day planning and organisational skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong commitment to Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality responsibilities
What can you expect from us in return?
- £25,000 - £26,000 per annum
