What is Accounting Advisory and Assurance?
Our Accounting Advisory and Assurance teams provide businesses with a broad range of accounting advice. Depending on the team you join you could be supporting major business transactions and transformations or delivering assurance services on financial and non-financial information such as risk controls or information relating to Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) reporting.
KPMG Accounting Advisory and Assurance Graduate Programme
On this programme you will develop your skills and experience in one of the following teams:
In Accounting Advisory you’ll help businesses with a variety of complex accounting challenges, such as the preparation of financial statements, mergers and acquisitions or the implementation of new accounting standards.
In ESG Assurance, you’ll help organisations meet the growing demand for clear and transparent disclosure of their ESG commitments to regulators, investors and the public. Reporting standards are changing rapidly and you’ll play an important role in examining a variety of data points such as greenhouse gas emissions, waste, human rights, diversity and many other non-financial metrics.
If you join our Controls Assurance team, you’ll assess how well our clients operate their business processes, helping them to become aware of potential risks and build customer confidence. You could be reviewing technology processes, cyber resilience or operational processes such as investment management across a variety of industries.
On this programme, you’ll have structured development opportunities and the chance to work closely with other KPMG teams including Financial and Technology Audit, Transaction Services, Consulting, Corporate Finance and Tax. You’ll develop valuable skills, commercial understanding, and in-depth business knowledge, all of which will empower you to build an exciting and varied long-term career.
Training and benefits
Over the three-year programme you’ll combine client delivery and study towards a professional qualification – the ACA, or CA equivalent in Scotland.
We offer a competitive salary and a host of great benefits, including 25 days’ holiday, study leave and a day off on your birthday. What’s more, each year you can take up to six days of time off to take part in volunteering initiatives.
Our firm’s hybrid working model balances the flexibility of working from home with the importance of collaborating and learning in our offices or at client sites. We trust our people to be where they need to be, with our colleagues working together in person as often as needed. You’ll be empowered by the technology that supports us to work flexibly across our collaborative office spaces.
Some travel is likely for audit work, and because its seasonal, you should expect there to be busy times of the year.
Seeing the whole picture
As part of our Accounting Advisory and Assurance team you will be building friendships and shared experiences, innovating and learning together. KPMG is a place where you can be yourself and give your best - whoever you are and whatever your degree background. We look at more than just your academic results and will also consider your strengths, values and motivations. If you’re collaborative and good with people, that can be just as important as your ability to pick up key technical skills. See the specific programme page on our career's website for entry requirements and our ‘How to Apply’ section for detailed application guidance.
