Our Industrial Placements are open to university students due to undertake a year in industry as part of their course, who wish to gain valuable work experience. Over a period of one year, you will have first-hand experience in the front line of our business operations. We’re looking for students who have a passion for logistics, and want to gain real-life experience in a fast paced and complex environment. If you’re ambitious, driven, and eager to show what you can do, this is a great way to start your career in logistics.
Your Role
The idea is to get a feel for how the department works whilst at the same time learning about the overall structure of the company, and how the finance team fits in to this. We will work with the successful candidate to identify what your skills are and what you enjoy, and design a placement that will support your growth and development and provide you with an invaluable insight into Finance within a logistics environment.
Your Responsibilities
This is a split placement between 2 finance teams. As a placement student in our teams you will get involved in various aspects of the day to day, and project work.
The type of work you will be involved in will include:
Working Capital:
- Supplier Risk Analytics, and Value derived from the Payables ledger
- Prompt Payment practice analysis
- Rejuvenation of supply chain finance
- Tableau development e.g. North/ South Customer care dashboard
- Credit Insurance reviews
- Aged debt weekly reporting and analytics
Procurement:
- Supply Market Analysis
- Support with tenders
- Contract management support
Your Skills and Experiences
- Currently studying for a degree qualification
- A passion for finance and communication – adding value to our operation as a support function
- Hardworking and committed
- Ability to work on own initiative
- A good team player
- A willingness to learn
- Driving licence/transport not essential as long as you can reach the site by public transport
Key Information
- Placement location: students will be based from the Milton Keynes office.
- Placement dates: 11th Sept 2023 – 6th Sept 2024
- Working hours: Mon – Fri 0900 – 1700 hrs (hybrid working is an option)
- Interview dates: Interviews will be held virtually. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Interviews will be held w/c 23rd Jan 2023 onwards.
- Post offer: We know that it is quite some time between offer and start date for our placement students. Our interview process will be conducted virtually but after successful offers are made, candidates will be connected with fellow students, invited to visit their site and join preparation calls with our future talent team.
