We are looking for three graduates to join Kuehne+Nagel on our Sea Logistics Graduate Programme in September 2022.

Are you a brilliant problem solver who can work under pressure and create good customer relationships? Then this could be the Graduate Programme for you.

The programme is two years long, with four business placements, and a further one year (optional) to work overseas to gain further experience , including gaining a professional qualification along the way.

    About the programme

At Kuehne+Nagel we're the number one sea logistics provider in the world, and proud of it. We ship everything from wine to medicine, and we help keep the world moving. On our Sea Logistics Graduate Scheme you'll learn all about how we do it - from the initial service offering to the implementation and systems which make it happen.

Our placements are flexible depending on the guidance of your graduate mentor and the needs of the business, but the scheme looks like:

    • Export and Import Operational Care - Liverpool, Birmingham or Dartford (4 months)
    • Export and Import Customer Care - same location as placement 1 (4 months)
    • Specialism 1 (one of: Products, Commercial, Processes and Systems, National Sea Logistics Support) - location dependent on specialism, but one of Birmingham, Liverpool, Dartford, Bristol, Glasgow (8 months)
    • Specialism 2 (one of: Products, Commercial, Processes and Systems, National Sea Logistics Support) - location dependent on specialism, but one of Birmingham, Liverpool, Dartford, Bristol, Glasgow (8 months)
    • (Optional) 6-12 months working overseas to gain further experience

You will first cover both Export and Import Operational and Customer Care, in the same location. You will be managing consignments end-to-end, liaising with KN overseas offices, suppliers, and customers. You will develop your financial and commercial skills, and an understanding of what makes KN the number one seafreight provider.

After developing an understanding of the operation, you will take on two specialisms. This could include working with specific products in KN Sea Logistics and gaining and understanding of the complexity of that product (e.g. refrigerated or dangerous goods). It could involve you taking on a sales role, where you will be liaising with customers, quoting, negotiating, and developing solutions to their shipping needs, using our state of the art systems which track our consignments around the world and finally if you wish to further your network /experience and work overseas this is also an available option.

    Development

We will engage with you during your programme to discuss the different routes available, and where your strengths are well suited. Your progression will be led by business demand, the area you have specialised in and the skills and competencies you have developed.

At the end of your programme you can expect to be well-rounded in terms of your understanding of the business, the process involved and the technology used to deliver the best customer service. Previous graduates have gone into roles including Systems Specialists, Sales Executives, and Product Team Members.

    About you

Kuehne+Nagel Sea Logistics is number one in the world, so we want people who want to join us because we are at the top, and you want to be there too. This programme will require a number of different skills, but if you have a strong customer focus, a commercial understanding, time management skills, a good work ethic and enjoy problem solving, you would be a good fit for this programme. We're looking for raw talent rather than prior knowledge, but we want to see that you're interested in the Logistics industry and where it could take you.

Interested? Here's what you'll need to apply:

    • A 2:2 degree qualification (achieved or expected) and 5 GCSEs Grade A-C including Maths & English
    • Eligibility to work in the UK
    • You must be able to relocate for placements
    • A full UK driving licence (or will have one by September 2021)
    • Access to your own transport is preferable, but negotiable dependent on placements
    • Willingness to learn - we don't expect you to be a Logistics expert, but we're looking for our future leaders!

    Our offer

We have lots to offer at Kuehne+Nagel; we're market leading with colleagues all over the world. But we know it's our people that make a real difference to how our customers feel. So come and join us on our journey. We'll offer you:

    • £27,000 starting salary plus a £1,000 joining bonus
    • 23 days holiday plus bank holidays and a holiday purchase scheme
    • Life assurance, private medical insurance, pension plan, and benefits portal
    • A flexible and understanding workplace where you're empowered and treated as an individual
    • A professional qualification linked to your graduate programme

And more than that - you'll get a career. This isn't just a two-year programme, it's a step up into the world of Logistics. You'll get back what you put in, and we've had previous graduates go all over the world and into all sorts of roles.

The closing date for applications is Friday 19th November at midday, however we do reserve the right to close the position early if sufficient applications are received before this date.

The assessment centres will be held virtually in December 2021
