    Our Industrial Placements are open to university students who are looking to complete a 12-month industrial placement in their third year of university. Our 12 months placements offer students the opportunity to gain real work experience in an area of our business. You will build commercial acumen and technical expertise through practical, first-hand experience in the front line of our business operations.

    We’re looking for students who have a passion for logistics, and want to gain real-life experience in a fast paced and complex logistics environment. If you’re ambitious, driven, and eager to show what you can do, this is a great way to start your career in logistics.

    Your role

    You will be working within the Perishables team responsible for providing an International Export and Import service to our customers. Moving Perishable cargo around the world just in time. You will engage with various departments and work on projects absorbing knowledge and skills through mentorship and on the job training. Throughout your placement you will contribute to the achievement of organisational goals by contributing fresh perspectives and ideas whilst collaborating with industry professionals. This experience not only enhances your academic learning but also helps build key skills such as communication, teamwork and preparing you for future career aspirations.

    Your responsibilities

    Over the 12 month programme you’ll be learning how to

    • Receive and process customer bookings to ensure customer requirements are met.
    • Making carrier bookings on behalf of the customers to meet customers timelines
    • Customs compliance - Complete Export and Import Customs Entries in order goods to clear HMRC
    • Be part of customer and supplier meetings
    • Process customer Invoicing
    • Understanding of warehouse processes and how that links in with the customer expectations.
    • Projects - Participate in key focus areas (when required)
    • Cost control - Review and optimise all processes to deliver volume utilisation & costs reductions

    Your skills and experiences

    The minimum entry requirement for this placement is to be currently enrolled in a degree program with the option for a third-year placement.

    Our company values candidates who are passionate about providing excellent customer service, have a strong work ethic, and are able to communicate effectively with others. Good planning and organization skills is important and you will need the ability to multitask and be a self-starter.

    Previous use of Microsoft Outlook and Excel is beneficial.
