The Genetic Toxicology team looks into mutations and damage caused by test articles at the genetic level. These are tested on a range of cell lines by small specialist teams within the department. Genetic toxicology is one of the first phases of testing in the drug development process so we get to work on a wide range of test articles which makes the job diverse and challenging.
Intern assignment summary
To provide assistance in the performing and data recording of any aspects of departmental assays, specifically in Cytogenetics or the Bacteriology Lab, in compliance with appropriate SOPs, GLPs, and regulatory guidelines. Duties include routine procedures and housekeeping duties associated with the day to day running of the laboratory areas.
Requirements
- Working towards bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Biology, Genetics, Microbiology or similar.
Experience
- Communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to accurately read, record, and communicate information.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
- Familiarity with standard spreadsheet and word-processing software applications
