As a Digital Journalist specialising in TV, Film and Streaming, you will work across our LADbible and UNILAD websites to create articles which reflect and enhance our brands.
The role
You will be responsible for sourcing, packaging and writing articles relating to films, TV shows and streaming news, drawing on current events, trends and viral content to inform and improve your work.
The preferred candidate would have a passion for film and TV, and would be locked in to search and social across the biggest stories of the day to recognise trending topics and topics with high potential.
You will utilise creativity to deliver content which sets us apart from other publishers, drawing from live event coverage, interviews, junket opportunities and red carpets to help do so.
Articles will need to be produced at speed to keep up with the ever-changing online landscape and to maximise audience potential from all referral streams.
What the opportunity looks like
- Working on all parts of the publishing journey, from ideation to creation, on up-to-date content around film, TV and streaming news to create a varied and knowledgeable portfolio
- Creating multiple articles each day in keeping with the tone and brand expectations of LADbible and UNILAD
- Strengthening LADbible and UNILAD as authorities in the film and TV space by coming up with original takes on popular topics and follow-up angles for the biggest stories
- Sourcing original story ideas and content opportunities from the TV, Film and Streaming community
- Utilising Facebook groups, Reddit, forums and other online communities to source and share content
- Ensuring all deadlines and quotas are met within set timeframes
- Conducting interviews with Talent and use these to inform and produce original content
- Covering live events, such as the Oscars, to pick up on noteworthy moments and produce content surrounding them at speed
- Remaining proactive by researching and seeking the latest news, trends, gossip and reports on relevant topics ahead of competitors
- Working as a proactive member of LADbible Group Editorial team
- Actively contributing to team meetings, pitches and article ideas
- Monitoring user activity on articles and using it to inform pitches for original content and follow-up stories
- Qualitative and Quantitative: daily monitoring of content performance from search audience
Skills and experience we’d like you to have
- Have a journalistic background with a passion for film and TV
- NCTJ qualified
- Target-driven and the ability to meet tight deadlines
- Proven SEO knowledge/experience, including understanding and usage of SEO tools including Google Trends
- A demonstrably high standard of written English
- A proven ability to think, imagine and produce new and original ideas for specific audiences whilst continually delivering unique and engaging content in the LADbible and UNILAD tone
- Outstanding writing, research and writing skills
- Experienced user of Microsoft Office
- Willingness to adapt working schedule to cover major trending events
