    The role

    The Finance team exists to ensure the Council is able to effectively secure, deploy and manage its resources in pursuit of its ambitious goals, such as its sector-leading Carbon Zero programme. We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and committed individual who would be trained to provide a wide range of financial and systems administration support. Upon completion of your training you will be able to demonstrate a high degree of financial technical accounting ability, whilst also possessing excellent communication and strong financial management skills.

    The core focus of this job is to assist in the preparation and monitoring of budgets plus the closure of accounts by liaising with budget holders in line with the framework for the finance function as a whole, as determined by the Section 151 Officer.

    You will also work towards achievement of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance & Accountancy (CIPFA) professional accounting qualification.

    • Association of Accounting Technician (AAT) qualified already working within a finance environment and looking to further develop your career

    This is a permanent position and the hours of work are 37 per week, working Monday to Friday. This post will require a hybrid approach to working, with attendance at onsite and online meetings, bookable workspaces and working from home. Meetings may be in Lancaster, Morecambe or elsewhere in the District and County. Your assumed place of work will be Lancaster Town Hall.
