Role overview
Graduate engineering role which will involve placements in a wide range of departments over a 3 year period.
To gain the skills / knowledge and experience required to become a Project Engineer working within the seating development team.
To gain an understanding of the design and development requirements for automotive seating products, manufacture, and to understand how they are validated.
This job will be based in Coventry, UK
Main responsibilities
- To gain the skills and experience to become a Product / Project Engineer
- Engaging in programs to assist the Engineering Project Managers to execute seating designs to specification requirements meeting customer expectations
- Work within the various engineering functions to get an understanding of design, analysis, validation, build, structured problem solving, tolerance analysis, drawing creation and dimensioning
- Define product requirements in terms of function, safety, durability and appearance to ensure targets are defined and achieved
- Learn the skills to enable good competitor technical benchmarking and attribute definition
- Management of open issues and driving them to successful closure within the agreed timing
- Drive design for manufacture and assembly into the product(s) that you will be developing
- Presentations to Lear colleagues and customer senior management as required with respect to your area of responsibility
- Participate in innovation activities to create ideas and concepts for the next generation of seating products with focus on improved user experience, lower weight, improved safety and cost reduction.
- The role may require occasional travel within the UK and Europe.
Key skills and qualifications
- Further education qualification (degree or similar) in engineering.
- Would suit a new graduate / candidate looking for further experience
- A general understanding of engineering principles.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft office software
- Appreciation of CAD and or CAE systems would be an advantage
- Open mind, proactive, team player, and good communications skills.
- Fluent English.
