The College is seeking to appoint a well-qualified, high performing and enthusiastic individual to the French Language Assistant post, who will support and inspire students.
We are seeking a Language Assistant whose primary job will be to deliver A Level French conversation sessions for individuals, pairs and small groups of students specifically in their preparation for paper 3, working closely with the French teacher and the Head of Department (MFL). A native or near native command of French is required, knowledge of French culture and an awareness of the processes of learning and improving confidence in a foreign language. Attendance at Parents’ Evenings will be required.
Modern languages department
The Modern Languages Department at Notre Dame is welcoming, successful and enthusiastic. The department is extremely high performing with a track record of achieving Outstanding ALPs value added for the last three years. The department offers A-level French and we use the AQA specification.
There is a friendly and professional atmosphere within the department and a strong emphasis on encouraging a positive rapport between staff and students in the pursuit of academic success. Within the department there is a wealth of experience and professional knowledge and an encouragement to undertake CPD. The department has a languages laboratory and has connections with Leeds, Sheffield and Newcastle Universities. Students of French have the opportunity to do work experience in France and go on a study trip during the Easter holidays.
