    Job description

    Our Graduate Programme has been designed to give you the fundamental experience and skill set to excel at Legal and General.  You’ll join with a cohort of graduates and take part in our thoughtfully designed Legal and General Induction, providing you with insights about our business and helping you connect with your new peers to grow your professional network. 

    In this role, you will join us on a full-time permanent basis and receive on the job training and coaching from your line manager and team to help you expand on both your business acumen and Risk skills.  Alongside this you’ll study for an industry recognised Professional Qualification.  Combined, these will fully equip you to be successful in your role, with the knowledge and skills required to apply to real world business challenges

    Over the course of the 2 years you will be given the chance to experience different rotations across London in one of L&G’s Risk teams, giving you a broad range of experiences across different teams.

    By the end of the programme you will have built a clear picture of where your interests and experience can take you within Legal & General, beyond the Graduate Scheme.

    During the programme you will

    • Supporting Financial Risk, Non-Financial Risk (NFR) and IT and Technology risk requirements across the business and relevant teams by identifying and analysing risks across our business and monitoring our compliance with regulatory requirements and standards
    • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement to risk processes and ways of working across the different risk disciplines
    • Supporting the design and development of tools and processes to help us identify, analyse and report on risks across the business
    • Assisting with drafting of reports and presentations as required
    • Helping create and maintain policies for identifying i) which risks and ii) how much exposure we want in order for the business to better manage risk
    • Assisting in providing oversight and constructive challenge to our front-line functions
    • Contributing to ‘horizon scanning’ exercises for emerging future risks, e.g., climate, cyber
    • Supporting the design and development of tools and processes to help us identify, analyse and report on risks across the business
    • Providing fungible resource to move between the different Risk and NFR sub disciplines to align to changing priorities or resource pinch points
    • Guided by your team and manager who will support you and teach you the day-to-day role  
    • Applying the knowledge and skills that you’ve learnt from your training into the role 
    • Part of a big team and developing your collaboration skills

    Qualifications

    We are looking for people with an inquisitive mind and a desire to learn. We’re not expecting prior industry experience, but we’ll want to see that you have the tools to develop quickly. These include:

    • 2.1 Degree in in a finance related or numerate subject
    • Analytical mind-set, with a high level of numeracy and attention to detail
    • Great communication skills, written and verbal
    • Flexibility and a team-player that is comfortable collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders
    • High levels of energy, dynamism and commitment
    • A willingness to learn, be inquisitive and a critical thinker
    • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
    • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise effectively
