Job description
What does the team do?
The Workplace team are responsible for the strategy, development, and on-going maintenance and governance of Legal & General’s market-leading UK Defined Contribution (DC), contract and trust-based, workplace pension products. They are responsible for designing innovative new solutions that meet customers’ needs and are commercially attractive for Legal & General, as well as launching new products in a timely and controlled way. Through their work, they help millions of customers save for their retirement and provide them with the flexibility to access to the full range of pension freedoms in retirement.
The team enable employers, trustees and advisers to meet the requirements of auto-enrolment legislation via competitively priced, high-quality products that adapt and evolve as the savings and pension landscape changes. We also provide direct to consumer saving solutions via our Personal Pension and Stocks & Shares Individual Savings Account (ISA).
What you’ll be doing
- Assist in preparing reports and management information for senior management
- Supporting the team to develop, deliver and govern market leading products, propositions and investment strategies that contribute to the future strategic direction of the Legal & General Retail business.
- Management of the team’s internal mailbox, answering queries, and escalating as necessary, within the agreed SLA. This will support in learning the breadth of the role quickly.
- Support the team’s adherence to the Risk Management Framework, ensuring identified risks recorded on the central risk management system are regularly reviewed and consistently managed in partnership with the Operational Risk team and other Legal & General colleagues.
- Shadow and work with Senior Product Managers to deliver projects that impact our existing products and proposition, driving through necessary enhancements and developments, providing business cases where necessary to justify expenditure and thereby ensuring the maintenance of a market leading Workplace DC proposition.
- Work with internal business stakeholders to discuss and agree product and proposition plans and initiatives and supporting investment solutions.
- Undertake analysis of customer, industry and regulatory activity, identifying and documenting where changes may be required that affect our existing Workplace DC products and investment propositions.
- Most importantly you will be learning new skills and gaining knowledge of how our business works!
Qualifications
We’re not expecting prior industry experience, but we’ll want to see that you have the tools to develop quickly. These include:
- On track to achieve 2:1 Degree (in any discipline)
- You will be in your penultimate year of university (i.e. graduating in 2026)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as strong attention to detail
- Analytical mind-set
- Highly organised with the ability to prioritise effectively; you are someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment
- Flexible and a team-player
- Curiosity and an eagerness to learn
- Competent IT skills, including the Microsoft suite of Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams
