    Our collaborative and multi-disciplinary team is one of the largest in the UK, providing water and wastewater infrastructure services alongside drainage design, SuDS and surface water management. Our wide variety of clients span across the UK and internationally and include water companies, local authorities, highways / rail authorities, and developers.

    It’s an exciting time to be working for our UK Water business with unprecedented investment in the water industry.  Due to continued framework successes, we seek to recruit an Assistant Hydraulic Modeller (Entry Level) to join our Water and Wastewater Team in Derby.  We are looking for entry level candidates who may have limited experience in the area but with good analytical skills and a desire to learn.

    Your purpose

    • To develop computer models, to investigate flooding and environmental problems and generation of outline solutions.
    • Build, verification and analysis of hydraulic sewer models outputs.
    • Data handling and analysis.
    • Use of GIS software (such as MapInfo & ArcGIS), to support our understanding of complex environmental problems.
    • Development of reports and other project deliverables.
    • Survey planning and survey supervision.
    • To work in a team of other hydraulic modellers, to proactively solve environmental problems for our clients.

    What you can bring

    • An interest in the water environment and sustainability and desire to apply your skills to the challenges the environment faces.
    • Desire to learn and develop technically and work towards a professional qualification.
    • Proactive self-starter.
    • Good written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
    • BSc/BEng/MEng degree level in Engineering, Geography, GIS or a science related subject (other equivalents can be considered).
    • Consideration will be given to HNC, HND level qualification in similar subjects. Opportunities to work towards qualifications can be discussed and supported for the right candidate.
    • Mathematics and English at GCSE/SN5 or equivalent (or higher) Grade C / 5 and above.
