Beverston Engineering is a world class precision component manufacturer, specialising in the prototyping and manufacture of state of the art engineering components for a wide range of industries. These include aerospace, oil & gas and pharmaceutical industries where safety and accuracy is a critical requirement within component manufacture. 

The role

Beverston Engineering and Liverpool John Moores University have collaborated to run a Knowledge Transfer Partnerships project with the aim to develop new methodologies based on data mining of planning and real-time manufacturing data to forecast critical lead times, reduce cost, inform costing and pricing, and improve quality.

15-month fixed term post based at the Beverston Engineering premises in Knowsley but employed by Liverpool John Moores University. 

About you

We are looking to appoint a graduate to run this project who satisfies the following essential criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering/physical sciences
  • Experience in applying technical knowledge and skill to solve problems of a commercial nature.
  • Evidence independently managing development projects in either an academic or industrial environment.
  • Excellent technical report writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work with staff at all levels.
  • Ability to work individually and as a member of a team.
  • Must have the means of independently travelling to and from the primary place of business for standard working hours.
  • The role will occasionally demand travel to other key locations throughout the UK. The candidate must have the means of independently travelling for business.
  • Must be based in the UK and have the right to work in the UK.
  • Must be able to successfully comply with the vetting requirements of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations:

We would like the candidate to address at least some of the following desirable criteria:

  • Masters level degree in engineering/physical sciences.
  • Experience using PowerBI for business analytics and data visualisation.
  • Use of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) within a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of precision engineering (CNC machining).
  • An understanding of the quality requirements for CNC machined components (calibration, measurement, process monitoring, SPC).
  • Proficient use of industry recognised CAE software (SolidWorks, Inventor, Siemens NX).
