Thanks to exciting growth opportunities, Lloyd BMW & MINI North Tyneside are recruiting for an Assistant Accountant to be a part of their accounts team.
Your role would be to aid in the preparation of monthly management accounts and support the smooth running of the accounts function on a day-to-day basis. You will also ensure accurate accounting processes are maintained and managing the ledgers for a clean month end close.
Your main responsibilities
- Ensure cash and bank reconciliations are completed accurately and financial records are maintained.
- Reviewing vehicle debtors to ensure a clean month end cut-off is maintained.
- Handling balance sheet reconciliations, including large manufacturer accounts.
- Reviewing ledgers and working with colleagues to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Taking responsibility for the accurate set-up of same day and 3-day BACS bank payments for authorisation by the accountant.
- Assisting with the wider month end process, culminating in the production of accurate and timely management accounts.
- Managing accruals and prepayments to ensure proper financial reporting.
- Managing fixed asset ledgers, including additions, disposals, and monthly depreciation.
- Assist with the reconciliation of stocks (including physical stocktaking) and vehicle funding.
- Providing support, leadership and guidance to Accounts Assistants and Vehicle Administration staff within the wider team.
- Signing off supplier invoices / statements and purchase ledger reconciliations.
- Assisting with year-end audit and tax pack preparation.
The successful candidate will
- Have a proven track record in a similar role or be able to demonstrate the ability.
- Proficiency in month end processes and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Familiarity with accruals, prepayments, and the management of fixed asset registers.
- Attention to detail and analytical skills. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Outlook.
- Strong communicator, positive can-do attitude, desire to achieve.
We are looking for a skilled Assistant Accountant, experience of working in the motor industry and knowledge of CDK Kerridge would be desirable, but not essential, as full training will be given.
