Use your coding skills and love for maths to transform the way we use data and tech to solve business problems.

We shape solutions from data

Every time a customer uses our apps, makes a purchase or chooses a product, they generate data. This data is incredibly important, but how can it help our Group to grow and improve?  That’s where our Data Science teams come in. They are experts in collecting and analysing large data sets, and they use this knowledge to help teams across the business spot and understand both opportunities and challenges. Above all, they design software, work with robotic process automation, integrate machine learning and more, to create data-led solutions.

Is our Data Science Graduate Scheme for you?

If you love maths and applying data analysis to make good strategic and automated decisions, then Data Science could be for you.

Our Data Science teams are diverse – in attitude, skills and ways of thinking – but they share an appreciation for innovation and learning. It’s why they are always looking for new ways to tackle a problem or trying different styles of working. They know that collaborating to solve a challenge makes for a stronger solution. That’s why this graduate scheme pairs you with different business areas – to help you become a data scientist with a deeper understanding of how you can impact change.

What you'll learn on the Data Science Graduate Scheme

Over two years, you’ll learn to solve all kinds of business problems and become a skilled data scientist within an inclusive, collaborative team.

We want to give you as broad an experience as possible, with really diverse challenges. Throughout your three placements, you’ll work in cross-project teams to understand client and business problems. You’ll find solutions that improve the way they work, and the ways customers bank. We’ll also encourage you to work to your strengths and grow beyond them through training and networking opportunities. And at the end of the scheme, you’ll have a portfolio of tried and tested data-led solutions that show your skills are improving the ways people bank.

The work you could be doing

  • Creating analysis and models to establish patterns and strengthen business strategies
  • Running quantitative analysis to learn about user behaviours
  • Researching new technologies and presenting proposals to senior colleagues
  • Developing Python code to test hypotheses and build end-to-end solutions that could help thousands of customers
  • Learning to be adaptable and react quickly to change

What you need to apply

A 2:2 degree or above in any discipline from any university, and PhD and master’s students are welcome.

Due to the technical nature of this scheme, you’ll also need a strong understanding of Python coding techniques and the mathematical ability to analyse data and statistics using methods like modelling and probabilities.

Locations

Our graduate schemes are rotational, so you’ll get a range of experience from teams in different locations around the UK. Our Data Science roles are predominantly based in London and Bristol, however our community is continually growing in cities beyond these so you may be required to do placements across the UK.
