We are currently looking for a Finance intern to join us at our Shared Service Centre in Manchester on a 12 month contract.
Within the 12 months, we will support you through ongoing training and development and exposure you to several teams to help build your finance knowledge and skillset – you will gain an understanding of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Project Management and Process Improvement.

Key responsibilities
Accounts payable:
- Scanning and Post distribution
- Administration of credit/purchase card accounts
- Supporting with preparation of AP reports and dashboard with checks
- Reconciling vendor statement/reminders
- Filing and archiving of all the filing inboxes
Accounts receivable
- Preparing cheque payments for the bank
- Investigate unallocated payments
- Carry out simple reconciliations on accounts
- Downloading weekly collection reports
- Make daily collection calls
- Logging outcome of collections activities
- Carrying out external credit checks
- Updating and maintaining credit info in SAP
Accounting
- Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly VAT returns
- Assisting with the preparation of the annual budget and involvement in the ongoing budgetary control process.
- Assisting with the development of the company's Internal Controls systems
Project management
- Lead planning and reporting to global team (Risks, Issues, Actions, Decisions)
- Responsible for local stakeholder management
- Address any migration related issues and escalations (e.g. accesses, escalations)
- Responsible to establish the Knowledge Transfer (KT) plan based on identified work packages
- Be first point of contact for Knowledge Transfer in country including training of local trainers regarding project requirements
Process improvements
- Propose and support process simplification, automation and innovation in alignment with the GPOs (Global Process Owners) and ensure successful implementation
- Define key performance indicators and targets for SSC and retained organization, perform benchmarking with industry (KPIs, innovation
- Owner SSC Work Instructions level 4&5 incl. global harmonization
- Support data quality and compliance with group and other guidelines through checks, trainings, project support (e.g. segregation of duties, Internal Control System, etc)
Key requirements
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Strong problem solving skills
- Highly motivated with a willingness to learn new skills
- Ideally you will be familiar with MS Excel
