Lotus Cars Limited is the manufacturing site of Lotus in the UK. Here we produce all sportscars types such as the Emira and the Evija. To bring the company to the level we want it to be, we are looking for a Quality Intern in the Quality Department to join us in our manufacturing plant based in Hethel.

The role

Arrive with a positive attitude to learning new skills within Lotus Quality Engineering. You will work in one of the three QE sub functions: Quality Engineer Projects, Metrology and Chronic & Complex Quality, and Issue Management Systems. You will be expected to take on workstreams and activities in an increasing level of involvement and technical difficult as the internship progresses, culminating in a role equivalent in load, and required skill like an entry level engineering role. This is a 12 month Fixed Term Contract.

What you'll do

Candidates will need to

  • Liaise with internal and external customers to ensure Quality Engineering objectives are being met.
  • Undertake administrative duties and complete basic metrics and data analysis activities.
  • Attend and engage in appropriate meetings and forums to meet the role objectives
  • Support problem solving activities alongside peers.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and added value.

Key stakeholders

Success will require excellent communication and understanding with a wide range of stakeholders, from engineering, manufacturing, operations and supply chain. Effective communication strategies with various levels of employee seniority is key.

Scope

Quality Engineering interns will support the three sub functions. They will be expected to quickly learn new skills and absorb technical engineering data and concepts to complete their objectives. Administrative task, creation and adherence to targets and metrics as well as data analysis will form the fundamental principle of the role. Problem solving as part of a team and identifying root causes, implementing containments and working with stakeholders to put robust corrective actions in place with increasing competence and pace over time is critical to success.

  • Must be in penultimate year of University programme upon start date.

Desirable

  • CATIA or other CAD software experience/ awareness.
  • Working towards an Engineering Degree or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes.

  • This role will be working from our Hethel plant within our flexible working policy
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in UK without VISA sponsorship.
