    LSTC has an exciting opportunity, for either an exceptional student or recently qualified individual with at least a good BSc Degree (or equivalent) in civil engineering, based in Little Driffield, East Yorkshire and working alongside an established team of geotechnical and civil engineers.

    What you’ll be doing

    Working as part of a team providing civil engineering support from conceptual design, through to detailed design to construction phases on a portfolio of projects ensuring adherence to quality, time and budget as well as relevant standards and client specification.

    You’ll be responsible for the preparation of schedules of activities, specifications, scheme budgets, scheme fees, target costs, and project programmes. Undertaking feasibility, desk study and site reconnaissance; arranging and supervising sub-contractors and ensuring their works are completed in a safe manner and to time and budget. Preparation and review of factual and interpretive reports as well as keeping all relevant records and documentation. Working alongside our OHL Design and Planning Engineers along with CAD and Asset Inspection Teams to develop and design solutions.

    The person

    • Enthusiastic with a flexible approach, self-motivated and able to work well as part of a team and on own initiative.
    • Driven, flexible and adaptable with excellent organisational, IT and communication skills.
    • Educated to at least degree level (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, ideally with some postgraduate or placement civil engineering experience.
    • Ability to think spatially, across disciplines and work at conceptual and detailed levels.
    • Ability to set a positive example to others in terms of attitude and approach to work and flexibility and with an understanding of the broader business reasons for doing so.
    • Good knowledge and evidence of keeping up to date on relevant industry-specific legislation.
    • Ability to understand and plan for conflicting requirements and meet challenging deadlines.
    • Ability to interrelate own discipline areas with outputs from other engineering and none engineering disciplines to present overall suitable solutions mitigating risk in proposed solutions.
    • Able to produce and approve reports and design deliverables that are compliant with standards, specifications and accurately consider all available relevant information and knowledge.
    • Must be highly numerate and literate with excellent report writing skills.
    • Must have a valid UK driving licence (or one acceptable to our insurers).
    • Must be prepared to travel and work from other LSTC UK offices.
    • Must be able to undertake both office and site work throughout the UK and Ireland.
