During his own career journey, our new Managing Director at Manchester Airport, Chris Woodroofe, has successfully delivered a step-change in passenger experience and a major programme of operational improvements. Jennifer Byrne-Smith, Manchester Airport’s Terminal 1 Director, is just one of the great people that work for Chris. Together, they want you to make the journey with them.

    About the opportunity

This is your chance to embark on an industry-leading career in Operations. The skills you will develop are those honed by Operations Managers, Directors, Process Managers and Chief Operating Officers alike.

Throughout the Programme, you’ll have access to a wide range of professional development Programmes plus both formal and informal learning. To provide a tailored experience, we will work with you to identify the most beneficial qualification to supplement the knowledge you will gain through your planned rotations.

You’ll finish the three-year Programme with a breadth of knowledge that spans across the business and a range of people management skills, that will stand you in good stead for the rest of your career.

    Over three years, you will

    • Complete a thorough induction programme which includes trips to each of our airports.
    • Rotate through 24/7 Operational areas such as Airfield Operations, Command & Control, Customer Services and Airport Security.
    • Rotate through Non-Operational areas such as Airport Planning and Asset Management.

    Who we’re looking for?

Critical to this role is the ability to connect with people at all levels and positions in the organisation. In some placements, you could be managing large operational teams and in others, you could be presenting a business case to senior stakeholders.

    • We would like you to be energetic, resilient, and committed to working with both employees and customers.
    • By nature, some placements may require night-work as well as outside working, so flexibility is key.
    • You’ll also need to have the right to live and work in the UK; to meet our security clearance requirements, you should have lived in the UK for the last three years.
    • There is no single path to becoming an Operations Leader at MAG so we’re hiring based on skills and behaviours; you can apply for this scheme with any degree classification in any discipline.

This role isn’t for everyone, however, if you’re enthused by aviation, people, and business – it’s a perfect fit for you!

    About Manchester Airports Group (MAG)

We are a major UK airport group. We own and operate Manchester, London Stansted, and East Midlands airports. We are also excited to have recently launched CAVU, our new global distribution agency. We have continued to invest in our infrastructure and people, paving the way for strong growth in the future.

We are always on the lookout for new ways we can add value for customers as they travel. That curiosity and innovation is what has led us to develop new products throughout the airport experience, such as airport hospitality, car parking and digital booking engines – and to deploy these not only at our three airports but around the world. Our people feel proud of the work they do to make our airports successful and the growth they bring to the surrounding communities and regions. Our Graduate Programmes give you the opportunity to take on real work with a real impact, and to benefit from world-class training.

What can we offer in return?

Great benefits as you would expect from a business the size of MAG – in the shape of a generous salary and benefits package including 6% company contribution pension, 24 days holidays plus bank holidays, free parking, subsidised public transport, salary sacrifice options and a huge range of discounts with major high-street retailers.
