    The role

    With a number of significant growth programmes underway, MAG are undertaking a radical transformation of our Technology landscape, to ensure that our systems and data can best support the organisation in to the future; this includes a wholesale Transformation programme across the Group.

    The role purpose is to identify business intelligence requirements by engaging with key stakeholders across the organisation, ultimately expressing the requirements as report designs, data needs and analysis solutions that will be used across the group for all key decision making, from operational real-time reports, to key executive dashboards that will drive business direction.  Working closely with key stakeholders across the group and IT teams, the role turns data into critical information and knowledge that can be used to make sound business decisions.

    Throughout your three year programme you will have the opportunity to develop the skills below:

    Year 1: Analyst Skills

    • Gain proficiency in data analysis tools such as SQL, Excel, and PowerBI
    • Analyse and interpret data to identify trends, patterns, and insights
    • Communicate insights and recommendations to stakeholders through written reports and presentations
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support data-driven decision-making
    • Develop a strong understanding of business processes and metrics
    • Stay current with emerging trends and best practices in data analysis
    • Participate in continuous learning and development opportunities to enhance analytical skills

    Year 2: Developer Skills

    • Build and deploy data models and reports to support data-driven decision-making
    • Design and implement data pipelines and ETL processes to integrate data from multiple sources
    • Implement data governance and security measures to ensure data integrity and privacy
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for automation and process improvement
    • Participate in ongoing learning and development to keep up with emerging technologies and best practices in data development

    Year 3: Analyst or Developer Specialisation

    • Based on interests and strengths, choose to specialise in either data analysis or data development
    • If choosing analysis, deepen expertise in advanced analytical methods like predictive modelling and machine learning
    • If choosing development, focus on building complex data architectures and integrations
    • Continue to collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for data-driven decision-making
    • Participate in ongoing learning and development to stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in chosen specialisation
    • Network and seek mentorship from experienced professionals in chosen field to gain insights and build a professional network

    What will make you successful in this role?

    You’ll need to be a critical and creative thinker to identify business intelligence requirements and see how complex data can be used to drive business performance, as well as an understanding of data governance, data security, and delivery methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall.
