If you want to experience the full spectrum of HR & Comms this is MAGnificently you.

Welcome to a graduate programme with a difference. And an environment like no other. Join Manchester Airports Group (MAG) as a HR Graduate, and you’ll have all the training and support you need to make a tangible impact on our thriving airports. You’ll focus on what it takes to perform as an effective People Professional who adds value. For example, you could be looking at the way we attract the next generation of Early Talent to our company or working on the next big project that leverages the way we use data.

You’ll be sponsored by Sarah Wright, our Head of Human Resource for Group Functions & Development. Sarah, is just one of the many great people that work for Cath Bailey, our Chief People Officer, but you'll learn that for yourself when you get here. In the meantime, we want you to know that you’ll have ample opportunity to explore the different specialisms within HR, and that you’ll be part of a high-performing and inspirational team.

    About the opportunity

If you have a strong moral compass, great business acumen and a desire to impact ‘the bigger picture’, a career within our People function (HR) sounds right for you. This is your chance to work with stakeholders across the whole of MAG, support and cultivate the culture we adhere to and drive positive change. In our People function, you’ll work with creative people, technically minded people, and some great leaders – you’ll find something to learn from all of them. You’ll have access to a wide range of professional development programmes and both formal and informal learning. The formal learning element will be supported by way of an apprenticeship - if you are not currently Level 5 CIPD qualified, this is the path we will encourage you to pursue.

We’d like to start your career here, in Manchester, and after the three-year scheme, your career with MAG could take you to London Stansted Airport, East Midlands Airport, or even our US based business.  Throughout the three-year programme, you’ll complete a short induction period in our airport operations team and swiftly move onto five specific placements within HR. These could include:

    • Recruitment & Talent Management, where you’ll contribute to growing colleague diversity and will develop an appreciation for branding and value propositions
    • Transactional Services, so you can learn about contracts, policies, and other administrative responsibilities such as people analytics and Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS)
    • Transformation, a placement with a focus on change management and future requirements
    • Advisory, in position where you’ll support managers with a range employee relations matter developing your employment law and company policy knowledge
    • Before going onto to consolidate your learnings in the last four months of the programme, your final placement will see you learning about rewards and benefits, deepening your knowledge of this specialist area

    Who we’re looking for

    • You should have graduated with at least a 2:2 within the last three years or be expected to achieve the same in September 2022.
    • We’re happy to consider any degree, but we think that you’ll feel more comfortable on this programme if you have studied for a degree in Law, History, Psychology, Business Management, Human Resource Management, Science, Technology, Economic, Maths or similar.
    • The successful candidate must, by the start of the employment, have permission to work in the UK.
    • To meet our security clearance requirements, you should have lived in the UK for the last three years.
    • Our best People leaders are business minded and people orientated. To join them, you will need to be a great communicator, organised with your time and work, and be data competent.

Our diverse programme of work spans three strategic priorities: Zero Carbon Airports; Opportunity for All; and Local Voices.
