    A number of placement students will be appointed into posts across various functions at the MRI. Each role has been designed specifically for an undergraduate student, with the objective of providing them with relevant practical experience to supplement their academic studies.

    Each post-holder will work within a team, assisting the service that they are assigned. This could potentially involve assisting with service management, HR/Finance, project involvement and strategic planning. The post-holders will actively work on clinical and non-clinical systems including the new integrated Hive system.

    Post-holders will be required to communicate, both verbally and in writing, with operational staff, stakeholders and other staff within the MRI.

    Main Duties of the Job

    This is not a comprehensive list and tasks will vary dependent on the specific role that the successful candidates are placed.

    • Providing support to senior team.
    • Acting as the initial contact point within the team for queries from service providers and internal/external stakeholders.
    • Undertaking project work and ad-hoc tasks relating to the post-holders specific area of work.
    • Producing accurate and auditable records for all work that is undertaken.
    • Reviewing and analysing data to make informed decisions/suggestions on service improvement.
    • The post holder may be required to undertake other duties and responsibilities as determined by their line manager within the overall parameters of the post.
    • Supporting projects which will ensure development in project management ability.

    Person Specification

    Qualifications

    Essential Criteria

    • 5 G.C.S.E.s grade A-C, or equivalent, including English and Mathematics.
    • Undergraduate Student currently in the second year of studies at MMU, and looking to undertake a 12-month Sandwich Placement.

    Desirable Criteria

    • Studying for a Business or Law degree, or for a degree with a significant business component (e.g. Finance or Economics and business)

    Skills Abilities

    Essential Criteria

    • Effective Written and Verbal Communication Skills.
    • Ability to put forward logical arguments to day to day issues, and the ability to influence decisions.
    • Able to ensure that routine tasks are completed within agreed timescales.

    Desirable Criteria

    • Ability to Interpret, compare and analyse data/information

    Training And Experience

    Essential Criteria

    • Experience in a work environment or have voluntary work experience.
    • Experience of Microsoft Office packages, particularly Microsoft Excel.

    Desirable Criteria

    • Office based work experience

    The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
