MFT is looking to employ undergraduate placement students for a 12-month period starting August 2023 to work hands within our Finance Innovation Team. The role will support the use of technology within Finance, specifically the roll out of Robotic Process Control (RPA), development of our financial planning software (Anaplan) and reporting via PowerBI.
To be considered for this position you will currently be a second-year undergraduate student in an Information Systems or Information Technology related subject.

You will be working within the Finance Department, across our two main sites (based at Trafford General Hospital and the Oxford Road Campus in Manchester) focusing on developing the Department’s utilisation of available technology in our processes and reporting.
The selection process will consist of a formal interview, presentation and a work based exercise. This will take place during January/February 2023.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Review, process map and document existing processes in order to form an evidence-based decision on their viability for automation
- Develop bots which replace existing transaction-based processes
- Develop and/or enhance financial models within our FP&A software
- Update the Finance department’s intranet pages and work will colleagues to explore how the pages can be developed further to be a useful resource to colleague both in and outside of Finance.
- Assist the department to review processes and how technology can be utilised to make processed more efficient and effective, including advanced use of Excel and developing macros as well as automation software
- Assist the department to explore different ways information can be reported, including assess different reporting tools.
- Support colleagues to understand the requirements of GDPR.
- Undertake specific IT projects with Finance colleagues, assess different options to meet the project scope and follow project management techniques.
- Explore different methods for the department to communication both internally and externally with stakeholders, utilising technology.
- Producing accurate and auditable records for all work that is undertaken.
