To provide a hands-on learning experience for an undergraduate R&D intern within a design engineering department, enabling them to gain practical exposure, develop technical skills, and contribute to product development initiatives under the guidance of experienced professionals.
This is a one year placement internship supporting our R&D department on day-to-day activities, enabling development of new products, product iterations, and process improvements to deliver business strategy.
This is a great opportunity for someone just leaving education who wants to gain knowledge and experience in a manufacturing facility but within a design engineering department. This could also suit someone taking a gap year in further education to gain knowledge and experience in a working environment.
Key responsibilities
- Updating and maintenance of technical drawing information
- Digitisation of product designs into 3D CAD files using Autodesk Inventor
- Assisting Site Services with floorplans using Autodesk AutoCAD
- Support Development & Product team in day to day activities
- Supporting the BIM and Marketing teams with data entry requirements to ensure product information is accurate and up to date
- Producing renders of products to support marketing and product management
- Develop 3D concept designs based on a brief
Skills & requirements
- Qualified to A-Level or equivalent NVQ/BTEC Level 3 qualification in a design discipline – Engineering, Design Technology, Maths would be advantageous
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Adaptable, Proactive & Motivated
- Be able to work in a team, as well as being able to use your own initiative
- Some knowledge of 2D CAD (Autodesk AutoCAD)
- Knowledge of 3D CAD (Autodesk Inventor/Revit) would be desirable
- Knowledge and understanding of mechanical material properties would be advantageous
- Can commit to the internship programme for the specified duration
- Can effectively communicate, collaborate with team members, and contribute to group projects & task.
- Demonstrates the potential for problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills, and who are willing to engage in practical tasks and projects to develop their skills.
- Strong commitment to continuous improvement and sustainability practices in design processes.
Additional information & benefits
- 12-month FTC = 37.5 per week
- Base salary £23k
- Based at a Genuit site - Aylesford, Kent
- Expenses covered for business travel
- Holidays 25 days plus BH
- Pension up to 5%
